This unique golden spice, has evoked an aura of romance, richness and rarity through the ages. Alexander the Great is said to have wept tears of joy when he first saw the beautiful Zafran fields in India.
The Moghul Emperors of Delhi were privileged to the same view whilst relaxing in their marble palaces. In earlier times, its scent was so valued that the Romans are believed to have perfumed the streets of Rome with Zafran oil before Nero entered the city.
