Every Italian city has created a pizza to be proud of. Pizza Margherita is the famed Neapolitan icon made from San Marzano tomatoes (red), buffalo mozzarella (white) and fresh basil (green) to echo an edible Italian Flag. The quintessential Sicilian Pizza is the beloved Capricciosa, (aka the Grandma Pizza as it’s one of the oldest styles,) originally thick-crusted (but less so nowadays) with tomato sauce, mozzarella, ‘shrooms, anchovies, onions, ham, artichokes and olives. When in pizza mood, do as the Romans do, by ordering Pizza Romano with its typical thin-crust topped with tomato sauce, mozza’ and anchovies.

Reckon you’re the big cheese? Then you’ll find Quattro Formaggia quadruple delight. Mozzarella, Fontina, Gorgonzola and Parmagiano are the typical cheesy quartet. Don’t want to say ‘cheese’? Then say Vegan Pizza – 7% of the UK now prefers this pizza newcomer with ingredients like plant-based mozzarella topped with fried aubergine and vegan sausage. And if it’s just veg you’re after, then Vegetariana offers aubergines, courgettes, peppers, spinach, carrots and peas (without the queues). Hungry, just fire up your Just Eat app.
